Wednesday Editorial: Free Stories!
Award season is upon us, and coming up next is the British Science Fiction Association award (the BSFA Award). Over at Torque Control, Niall Harrison has been posting all the works on the long-list, as recommended by members of the BSFA. It was nice to see some work by international writers represented – my own The Shangri-La Affair (Strange Horizons), Gail Har’even’s The Slows (The New Yorker) and The Beloved Time of their Lives (The Beloved of my Beloved, Newcon Press – note this is a PDF link) by Roberto Quaglia and Ian Watson. If I missed any, my apologies.
Anyhow, I thought it would be nice to offer members of the BSFA – or anyone else wanting to try some of the stories in The Apex Book of World SF without buying a copy – an opportunity to read the four originals in the collection – i.e. the stories that have never before appeared in an English publication. We’ll keep them on the server for a few days. Try them. Consider buying a copy of the book, but don’t feel obliged.
Here, then, are the stories, in PDF format:
- The Levantine Experiments, by Guy Hasson
- The Wheel of Samsara, by Han Song
- Wizard World, by Yang Ping
- Cinderers, by Nir Yaniv
Comments (on the stories) welcome!
