We take a break from our short story highlights to point you over to Torque Control, where a fascinating discussion has evolved over the question of women and their representation in the Clarke Award. The Clarkes are the UK’s premier SF award, and the discussion has been ranging broadly, from issues of gender representation, to privilege, to the question of the British SF renaissance (now in a separate, no less interesting, thread).
Do check it out, and comment – would love to hear your thoughts.
ETA: Also an interesting discussion on representation (or lack thereof) of people of colour in UK SF publishing.
Thinking about the question of privilege, has anyone looked seriously at social class in f&sf?
Oh my god, total self-parody!
