We have another Author Week here at the World SF Blog after our hiatus. This time, it’s Swedish writer Karin Tidbeck, and to mark the release of her latest collection, Jagannath: Stories, published by Cheeky Frawg, we’re giving away three (3) copies of the book. For a chance to win, simply comment down below, and make sure to fill in your e-mail address so we know to contact you if you won. Competition closes on Friday, and we’ll announce the winners on Monday.
Also, watch this space as we publish a short story, an interview, a review, and a guest post from Tibeck.
Karin Tidbeck has published short stories and poetry in Swedish since 2002, and in English since 2010. Her 2010 book debut, the short story collection Vem är Arvid Pekon?, awarded her the coveted one-year working grant from the Swedish Authors’ Fund. Her English publication history includesWeird Tales, Shimmer Magazine, Unstuck Annual and the anthology Odd?. She also recently sold her first novel to Sweden’s largest publisher.
Ursula K. Le Guin wrote: “I have never read anything like Jagannath. Karin Tidbeck’s imagination is recognizably Nordic, but otherwise unclassifiable–quietly, intelligently, unutterably strange. And various. And ominous. And funny. And mysteriously tender. These are wonderful stories.”
Update: From Jeff VanderMeer in the comments: Just to make it interesting, Cheeky Frawg will also throw in ebooks by Amal El-Mohtar, Amos Tutuola, and Leena Krohn for those winners who want them (the Tutuola and Krohn will be available by the end of the month). In addition, we will stick in a couple extra treats with the Jagannaths that are sent out….
Update 2: The winners are Kyle, Francene Lewis, and kummakissa. Congratulations!
I’d love to win one. And what a great cover!

It is an excellent collection, I love it so far. And because of this I would love to have a physical copy of the collection too. (Dreaming a bit of a signed one 😉 ).
I love collections like these, and this one looks to be fantastic! (pun intended)

That is a great cover.
And apparently my WordPress account isn’t attached to any email, so mine is samedietc@hotmail.com
In for the giveaway.
The cover is immensely striking.
(JAGANATH is on my list of “collections to get” along with AT THE MOUTH OF THE RIVER OF BEES. I’m hoping sometime this winter.)
Did someone say “free books”? ‘Cuz I thought I heard someone say “free books”!
I’d love to get a copy! Signed if possible.
Thank you!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Weird Winnings for the Win!!!
I would love a copy! I read “Cloudberry Jam” at NPR and it blowed me away!
Intriguing. Looking forward to hearing more from Ms. Tidbeck this week.
Thanks for the chance to win this volume!
Oh, this looks lovely; thanks for the opportunity!
Would love a copy. Thanks for the opportunity. (Just in case: nilaewhite (at) gmail (dot) com )
So excited about this book! Would love to win one.
I would be interested in a copy of Jagannath. Thank you.
I only discovered this blog today and have never heard of this author, but I love SF and fantasy and would love to get to know her.
I would love to win 🙂
I am thrilled to find a new Scandinavian author who writes weird Nordic tales in English. There are many brilliant authors here who never get translated, so I am so happy to find the few who try to write in English. Would love to read her. Gorgeous cover too 🙂
Me! Me!
I heard about this at World Fantasy and saw Ms. Tidbeck speak on the translation panel. Sadly, our release party was at the same time as yours and I missed it. I will be picking this up one way or another, in any case.
I would love to win and read this book. Thanks for this giveaway!
Yes, please! Am on the waiting list for her Swedish books at my city library, and it would be nice to read her in English as well.
I’ve been meaning to grab a copy of this for a while – looks great. Fingers crossed…
Tossing my hat in.
I love stories based on folktales/magical realism and this sounds really interesting. Please place me on the list. Thanks for the giveaway.
In this case ‘lust’ is not just a verb. It’s a passion that consumes from the inside out. It is a slow burn eating through sanity and sense. It’s a need that circumvents thought and stalls the blood in my veins.
I want Karin Tidbeck’s book! (please).
Interesting cover. I would like to win a copy. 🙂
Have finally awakened to non Anglo-American SF/Fantasy. Would love to read this one.
Not that common, the chance to read and know a non Anglo-American author: count me in.
I want to read the book. Like now!
I’m looking forward to reading this. It sounds absolutely lovely.
This sounds great.
I’ve ordered her Swedish collection but would love to read the English as well.
It sounds just wonderful
i’m always glad to see non-english spec fic books translated into english. unfortunately, though i’m always on the lookout for the new authors not in the mainstream (i.e. not yet in english), language limitation always forces me to wait until someone decides to translate the works. so yes, sign me up for a free book. (my email address is estranghero@gmail.com just in case.)
